FUJIFILM 600022326 Reviews
Lightweight & Has Low Field Curvature - good for walk-around landscapes
I find the optical quality to be good at focal lengths from 35 to about 63mm, when shot from around f7.1-f11. I usually shoot it around f8. At wider apertures it's not so great. I like the lens for covering my most used focal lengths for landscapes and for other photos where f8 is preferred (over wider apertures due to needing some more depth of field than say f4 would provide). In comparison to other lenses around this focal length range, including primes, I find this lens to have lower field curvature, which contributes to it having good sharpness across the image. For example, in my testing it has much lower field curvature than the 32-64 lens. I wish Fuji would redesign that lens to significantly reduce it's field curvature and reduce the size and weight; it's been a long time since it was released, and many companies have made big strides with those types of improvements - Sony, for example. Some of the older GFX lenses could use similar improvements (30mm, 45mm, 63mm among them). It weighs only 1 lb and is relatively compact, which is great for walk-around use. The most directly comparable GFX zoom is the 32-64, which weighs 1.9 lbs, a huge difference. If that lens had better across-the-entire-image performance then it might be worth the extra weight, but it doesn't. So, this 35-70 is a keeper for me.
Excellent
The obvious lens for GFX. Excellent value. I would prefer an aperture ring, but at this price I can live with it.
