SmallHD says this isn't compatible with Cine 7 monitors purchased after Nov 2020. Is this correct? Wet changed in the Cine 7 that would make it incompatible? Thanks :)

No, the SmallHD Sun Hood for Smart 7 Series Monitors is not compatible with the older SmallHD monitors like the SmallHD 702 Lite 7" SDI and HDMI On-Camera Monitor and the SmallHD 702 OLED 7" On-Camera Monitor.
