Built rugged for daily use on your camera rig yet lightweight for handheld, gimbal, stabilizer, or drone work, the Tilta Mirage Motorized VND Kit is a modular component system combining a matte box that clips onto 95mm OD and a variable ND system with a motor and wireless controller that allows you to precisely adjust the ND effect from 0.3 to 2.7 stops when needed. The matte box weighs about the same as a standard 4 x 5.65" glass filter, and it accepts Tilta's 95mm round filters with the included filter adapter. The modular design means you can configure the matte box to match your needs on a shot-by-shot basis.

The included rigid hood and removable top flag aid in cutting glare and protecting your image from overhead flares. Four included lens adapters enable mounting the Mirage Matte Box on lenses with 67, 72, 77, or 82mm threaded fronts. The included 15mm LWS rod clamp can be attached, allowing you to mount the Mirage on rods to take the weight off your lens or use lenses with rotating fronts. An optional 4 x 5.65" stackable filter holder lets you mount 4 x 5.65" filters on the matte box. Other modular components, such as a top flag, dual circular filter tray, filter protector, and rubber hood for shooting up against windows, are available separately.

Variable ND System
The included VND module enables you to precisely adjust the ND effect from 0.3 to 2.7 stops. The module has built-in hard stops between ND 0.3 to 2.7 to reduce the chance that the dreaded X-pattern shadow appears. The variable ND has no color shift for natural colors, and it has a larger axis between the filter elements. Tilta recommends that to prevent vignetting, use ND 0.3 to 2.1 for wide lenses and use ND 2.1 to 2.7 for focal lengths beyond 35mm.
Wireless Motor System
The wireless micro-motor can wirelessly adjust the VND unit remotely, allowing you to adjust the amount of ND when your camera is mounted on a stabilizer or gimbal, or when you need smooth adjustment without disturbing the camera during a take. The standard wireless range is about 328', and it can extend to over a mile by using an optional wireless signal amplifier, which is great for aerial photography. The VND's motor can be controlled with the new included wireless controller or Tilta's Nucleus Series Wireless Follow Focus Systems. The Wireless Controller mounts via NATO rail and can control the Nucleus M and Nano motor, as well as the Wireless Motor for the Tilta Mirage. Use the included Nucleus Nano Motor Mounting Bracket to secure the Nucleus Nano motor directly to the VND module.
Designed for the Wind
The matte box body has been designed to aid the airflow with integrated vents that can reduce wind resistance and improve stability when shooting subjects at high speeds, such as in a car or on a drone.
Modular Design
The modular design allows you to configure your matte box in a variety of ways: from completely stripped down using only the 95mm filter holder with the lens clamp to adding a 4 x 5.65" stackable tray, the included lens hood, the included top flag, or swapping the hood for an optional rubber hood. Additionally, you can add the optional 15mm LWS rod support, so you can mount the matte box to rods for handling heavier filter loads, such as the optional VND (variable neutral density) system.
95mm Circular Filter System
Tilta's 95mm circular (round) filter system proves coverage for lenses with up to a 95mm outer lens barrel diameter, and it provides significant weight savings over traditional filters, as the circular filters weigh about 1/4 the weight of traditional 4 x 5.65" glass filters.
Filters
An optional 4 x 5.65" stackable filter tray can be added between the filter clamp and matte box hood, allowing you to easily add one or two 4 x 5.65" filters to the matte box.

Is it possible to get an adapter to be able to put the system to the carl zeiis Cp2 cine prime optics?
Asked by: Andres
No it is not. The CP2s have a larger opening than this matte box therefore if you attach this matte box to your CP2s it is far more likely to create a vignette.

Does the power supply for the motor need to be removed when not in use? When I leave it connected it drains the battery even when the motor is off.
Asked by: Glenn
When the Tilta Mirage Motorized VND Kit is not being used, to best maintain current battery levels the power supply should be disconnected from the motor.

Can the motor + remote work as a follow focus for Rokinon Cine lenses?
Asked by: Russell J. FLD
No, the included motor is only for the VND in the matte box. You would need to add a Tilta Nucleus Nano motor or a similar motorized follow focus system.

Hi, can the remote control any secondary Nano or M motors or can it ONLY control the VND motor? If so, how many motors can it control at once?
Asked by: Mena
The Wireless Controller for Mirage included with the Tilta Mirage Motorized VND Kit can control a single Tilta Nucleus M motor or Tilta Nucleus Nano motor or Wireless Motor for Mirage at a time.

Hi, I apologize as I myself admit that to some extent this question seems to already have been answered, but I just wanted to absolutely confirm this. To my understanding, from what is written in the description of the product, "The Wireless Controller [of the Mirage] mounts via NATO rail and can control the Nucleus M and Nano motor, as well as the Wireless Motor for the Tilta Mirage." My question is simpy: can the Mirage Wireless Controller be programmed so that it controls the Wireless Motor for the Tilta Mirage with the controller wheel and at the very same time controls a Nucleus Nano motor with the zoom buttons on the Mirage Wireless Controller? Essentially what I would preferably like to do is have the Mirage wireless controller control two motors but one through the wheel and one through the buttons on the controller? This would be a very practical solution for me on my gimbal because I would obviously be able to control the VND filter as well as a zoom wheel on a lens all with one controller only. Please let me know. Thank you.
Asked by: Bartosz
The Mirage wireless controller is a 1 axis controller this means that it can only control 1 motor at a time. It can control the Mirage VND or it can control the Nano but it can not do both at the same time. Consider the Tilta Nucleus-M FIZ Hand Unit if you want to control the Variable ND, the nucleus Nano, and even a 3rd motor simultaneously.

Yes, as long as the outer diameter of the lens is 95mm. Otherwise, you will need to use step-up or step-down rings.

Asked by: Brian
Tilta says that the Tilta Mirage will support 35mm wide lenses if they are used with full frame cameras.
