Techart PRO TZE-02 Overview

The new Sony E - Nikon Z Autofocus Adapter is the latest groundbreaking product brought by Techart. We take advantage of the 2mm difference in flange distance between Sony E and Nikon Z mount and developed an ultra-thin adapter to convert the lenses in Sony E mount into Nikon Z. Techart also manage to incorporate a CPU chip into this tiny space which can 'translate' the protocol of Sony to Nikon so that the AUTOFOCUS, AUTO-APERTURE and LENS STABILISATION functions can all be retained.

Both AF-S, AF-C and MF mode will work on the Nikon Z6/Z7. Face and Eye detection, EXIF reading, Timelapse function can also be supported. Phase-detect AF is used and therefore the AF speed is on par with using native Z mount lenses on the cameras. Firmware is upgradable via separate lens dock (Included for FREE). TZE-01 does NOT work with Z50.

I bought this adapter directly from the company rather than B&H and couldn’t regret it more. The adapter does not work. Tried to use my Zeiss Batis lenses with it and they got no power through the adapter, rendering them useless. Can’t even focus without power since they’re entirely electronic. And that’s on top of the adapter being extremely tight.. to the point I was worried I was going to damage my camera/lenses when mounting/removing the adapter. Have been trying to get a refund but there is no contact information on their site and they do not respond to requests made through the contact page on their site. Filed a dispute through eBay and they’ve supposedly agreed to refund me if I ship it back to them. I go to ship it back and they say I need an EEI number, which the company did not provide. At this point I’m convinced that this company is knowingly selling a faulty product and using shady means to keep the money (like agreeing to a refund on the condition that I ship the adapter back, yet making it impossible for me to get the adapter back to them). TLDR: Avoid this thing like the plague. Buy Megadap instead.

Owned it for a while. Cannot update firmware via the dock. Will not work with new nikon ZF camera so basically I have a paperweight now.

Has anyone tried this adapter with the Sony FE PZ ...

Has anyone tried this adapter with the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens and Nikon Z9? Do all functions work like iris, focus, and power zoom?

From testing with the Sony FE PZ 28-135 f/4 G OSS lens, the Nikon Z9, and the Techart Pro AF Adapter for E-mount to Z-mount, our conclusion is that the combination is works, but is quite finicky. I had to dismount/remount the lens multiple times to get AF, aperture/iris control (in A-mode on the lens, manually it was fine) via the camera, and power zoom. Multiple times the lens would be irresponsive or display f/4 but remain unadjustable.

The Techart PRO Autofocus Adapter for Sony E-Mount Lens to Nikon Z-Mount Camera (V2) is functionally the same as the previous V1 version. Due to recent global electronic component shortage, Techart PRO have changed to use another chip for this adapter and so the product code for the adapters with the new chips will be changed to TZE-02. The functionality of TZE-01 and TZE-02 are exactly the same. Only difference is, when you are updating the firmware, you will need to choose your respective product code.

It does provide firmware update and straightforward. I have a V 1 which is recently updated to ver. 4.60 and it works beautifully again. Left a one star review before, hope I can modify my review to be fair to Techart (at least on this adaptor).

The Techart PRO Autofocus Adapter for Sony E-Mount Lens to Nikon Z-Mount Camera (V2) only works with Nikon Z-mount cameras; the Nikon D7000 is F mount.

V1 was NOT compatible with the Z50, due to size restrictions. The new Megadap adapter IS compatible. How about this V2 version?

If the V2 is the same as V1, then there is no hope on Z8/Z9/Zf, I tested all. Yes, Megadapt ETZ21 is offering better compatibility but it is a little unfair comparing 2nd version of Megadapt to 1 st generation of Techart V1.

Is there a maximum weight suggestion for the lenses used? I use e Mount Sigma Art lenses and they are heavy.

There is no suggested maximum weight for a lens to be used with the Techart PRO Autofocus Adapter for Sony E-Mount Lens to Nikon Z-Mount Camera (V2), but common sense would indicate that any lens over a couple of pounds should be supported, especially when using a lens adapter like this.
