That function on the Sangean WR-22 is known as 'Sleep Timer'. Sleep timer will automatically switch off the radio after a preset time has elapsed. Press and continue to hold the Power On/ Off button, the display will cycle through the available sleep time in the order of 60-45-30-15-120-90-60. Release the button when the required sleep time shown in the display and the radio will play the last station selected.

I have entered a usb in the port and it displays as unknown and does not play . Why is that ?
The USB drive needs to be formatted in the FAT or FAT32 file format. NTFS is not supported. Please check the drive on a computer and if possible re-format as FAT32, but remove your files from the drive before formatting.
