B+W Master 007 Clear Overview

The 67mm MRC MASTER 007 Clear Filter from B+W protects the front of your lens against the elements such as sand, dust, fingerprints, and splashing water. The filter is fully color-neutral and highly transparent. Featuring B+W's MRC nano coating, it also has an extremely low reflection. The optical information remains unaffected when it reaches the image sensor.

The coating reduces the adhesion tendency of dirt particles and water droplets. With MRC nano coating, a water droplet remains practically spherical. It rolls over the surface, and a first-rate dirt- and water-repellent effect occurs.

At the recommendation of professional photographers I began using these B+W filters. I've used them ever since. The new knurled ones are much easier to use and apparently the quality of glass is also improved.

In the classic words from Tina Turner Over the years i have found this Made in Germany filter to be superb. This one is a Master 007 Clear (my first) All previous filters are all 007 clear. The superior coatings are welcome, but not sure I like the knurling on filters edge.. maybe as an identifier, but I personally prefer the smooth black edge with writing, and if they are not put on tight they wont bind, and easily removed with a deft touch.

I purchase one of these clear filters for each lens that may be used outside of my studio. I'd far rather remove the filter if the conditions appear to be safe to do so than risk getting grit, dust, water or other contamination on very expensive glass.

All of my lenses wear filters, mostly for protection, and in the film days also to block UV light. With digital sensors UV blockage is no longer a concern, but glass quality, clarity and the smallest threaded collar remain most important to me, and these B+W filters are unmatched from my standpoint. I've purchased Leica filters before but see no difference to justify the increased cost.

The UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter from B+W blocks UV light, which can cause blurring and a bluish cast. The Clear filter does not block any UV light so it does not change the image at all.

B+W renamed the filters. The B+W MRC MASTER 007 Clear Filter (46mm) and the B+W 46mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 Filter are the same model. The latest name is Master.

No, clear filters don't block UV. They protect the front of your lens against the elements such as sand, dust, fingerprints, and splashing water.

When attaching this to a Leica Elmar-M 24mm 3.8 lens, will the screw on lens shade fit OVER this filter?

The hood for the Leica Elmar-M 24mm f/3.8 ASPH. Lens is going to screw onto the outer thread of the lens, while this B+W MRC MASTER 007 Clear Filter (46mm) would screw on the inner thread.

Yes, using the B+W MRC MASTER 007 Clear Filter (52mm) on the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens (Sony E) the lens hood will work as well.
