This Xperia PRO-I 512GB 5G Smartphone with Vlog Monitor & Grip Kit from B&H includes a Sony Xperia PRO-I 512GB 5G Smartphone, Sony Vlog Monitor for Xperia PRO-I, and Sony GP-VPT2BT Wireless Shooting Grip. This combination gives YouTubers, vloggers, and other pro social content creators a premiere mobile setup right out of the box. The combination lets you shoot your videos with the powerful rear cameras of the PRO-I while properly framing yourself with the 3.5" vlog monitor, and delivering the smooth panning of a handheld grip.

Essentially, vloggers can mount the PRO-I into the included holder with the rear cameras facing them, magnetically attach the vlog monitor to the back, and then attach the whole thing to the handgrip. So instead of using a low-res selfie camera, you get the PRO-I's 24mm wide-angle camera with 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor and ZEISS Tessar T* aspherical glass lens, which allows for 4K video at 120 fps. In addition to the panning and unique shooting angles the grip offers by default, this particular grip gives you wireless control over shooting, and can even transform into a tabletop tripod for static shots almost anywhere.

Sony Xperia PRO-I 512GB 5G Smartphone (Unlocked, Frosted Black)

Combining truly professional camera hardware with a "go-anywhere" vlog-friendly form factor, the Sony Xperia PRO-I 512GB 5G Smartphone is the answer to elevating your mobile content creation to the next level. The "I" in "PRO-I" stands for "Imaging," which the Xperia PRO-I delivers in abundance. The star of the PRO-I experience is a 24mm wide-angle camera with a large 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor, which incorporates a real iris for dual f/2.0 and f/4.0 apertures and a sharp ZEISS Tessar T* lens made from high-index aspherical optical glass.

Capture crisp, detailed stills with naturally rendered bokeh and exposure control, and record cinematic videos that can be saved natively to memory in 4K at up to 120 fps. Videos of fast-moving subjects are possible thanks to Video Eye AF and object tracking, also at 4K/120p. These are just some features of a triple-camera array that also includes a 3D iTOF depth sensor, a 16mm ultrawide, and a 50mm standard lens. All three lenses offer 12MP resolution and large pixels for exceptional low-light performance.

To further ensure that what you shoot is of extremely high quality, Sony incorporates a BIONZ X processor for dedicated image and video processing. This adds improved noise reduction in any shooting mode and real-time 12-bit raw processing at up to 24 fps. These are just some of the PRO-I's imaging capabilities, which are mirrored by robust hi-end smartphone functionality. Mobile features include a large 6.5" 4K HDR OLED screen for immersive gaming and video streaming, 5G network connectivity for fast broadcasting of content on location, and support for both Hi-Res Audio and Dolby Atmos audio formats for even more realism.

GSM/4G LTE + 5G Wireless Connectivity
This phone is designed to work on select GSM & 5G (Sub-6) networks. 5G is a cellular network data protocol capable of extremely fast data speeds that rival, or surpass, that of wired broadband internet providers. 5G speeds can vary considerably based on location, but on average, should have no problem streaming 4K video. As 5G upgrades over time, mobile AR and VR applications could become possible. The phone is backward compatible with 4G LTE, 3G, and 2G data for locations that do not support 5G.
North American Variant / US Compatible 5G
The Xperia PRO-I is a North American variant. It may be used in other parts of the world; however, 5G access may be limited or unsupported, depending on the network. Please choose your country/carrier above to confirm the network compatibility of this phone.
Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS)
Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) allows you to lower your mobile costs when traveling while staying connected. Once your SIM cards are installed, you will be able to receive phone calls and text messages from either without needing to manually choose which one is active. When you want to make a call or send an SMS message, you can select the correct SIM card. When one SIM card is being used for a phone call, the other will not be active until you hang up. Operator charges may apply.
Android 11
This phone runs Google's Android 11 operating system, which gives you access to the millions of available apps in the Google Play Store, in addition to a host of built-in capabilities. External Monitor
When attached to your camera and used as an external monitor, the Xperia PRO-I offers a host of additional capabilities. You can livestream what your camera sees online, use Wave Form to check the exposure and RGB balance, and use False Color to assist with iris setting selections by ensuring the details for exposure are more noticeable. B&H's site says, "Properly frame your vlogs with the Sony Vlog Monitor for Xperia PRO-I while utilizing the PRO-I's high-powered wide-angle lens for the best results." Any explanation as to why that advice? One ould think you could better use any of the three lenses with this. Could you explain, in what way using the Vlog Monitor with the 24 or the 50 might be less good? Thanks.
Asked by: Dave
On the Sony Xperia PRO-I Smartphone, the wide angle lens is recommended for use when doing personal vlogging, as the other 2 lenses would, in most cases, be too tight for a shot for someone handholding the camera and filming themselves. With an extended distance between the camera and you, with the use of a tripod or selfie stick, the other lenses could become viable choices.

Obviously this is based on the individual, but I'm wondering if this would be worth it just as a camera device and Wifi (that is, no phone connectivity). Thoughts? Would anyone get it just as a camera?
Asked by: Sam
That's exactly how I'm planning to use it. I tried using it as a phone, and it's horrible for many reasons (see my review). But I do like the SD card slot and 3.5" mm phone jack. Camera is questionable as the 1" sensor isn't really getting used (only a portion of the sensor is used). But I think I will keep it as a multi-media device with somewhat decent camera capability. I'll try using it as a camera monitor for my several Sony Alpha cameras. It's a bit expensive as such a toy, but I can afford it and will probably keep it. As far as the full phone + camera solution, I just purchased Galaxy S22 Ultra.

It seems like the Wireless Grip cannot connect directly to the phone without the Monitor bracket, but you sell the phone +grip as a package. Am I missing something that connects it to the phone alone?
Asked by: Ginessa
You would need the adapter bracket to mount the phone on top. However the wireless functionality would work out of box.
