Leofoto BV-5 Reviews
Top Quality
I had been looking for a smaller, lighter video head for my new mirrorless Z50II gear. I was looking for a head with the Arca-Swiss clamp and plate, rather than modifying a Manfrotto plate. I tried five different versions of a small (not mini) Arca-Swiss head. Many of them were the low-priced odd-named off-shore versions, thinking I could save some money. One of them, while apparently a high quality Manfrotto knockoff, seemed too good to be true. It was. It failed massively shortly after the 30-day B&H return policy. After 5 or 6 emails back and forth with the manufacturer in China, it was obvious that they had no intention whatsoever of honoring the warranty. Of all these five head trials, this Leofoto BV-5 was by far the best, even though it's more expensive. Its build quality is superb, and for my use, the tilt-tension sensitivity issue mentioned by another reviewer just isn't a problem for still-photo non-video use - which is why you buy a head with A-S connections in the first place! All my A-S plates fit perfectly. I have not found a single thing to criticize. Leofoto makes a big deal about their warranty, which they just improved recently. And they have a US-based operation. I've had several email communications with them and they respond quickly and appropriately. I hope to never have to use their warranty, but if I ever do, I doubt I'll have the frustrations that I did earlier. I've learned my lesson - we've all heard it before: you get what you pay for. It's that simple. Kudos to Leofoto; in my opinion all the great things other reviewers say about Leofoto products are true.
Built like a mini tank
Light, small, robust, very well built Arca-Type Mini Head. Smooth, fluid and lock perfectly. Worth the price.
