Does not work with some Canon cameras, The Q&A section of this listing says it works with Canon 5Ds. It does not, I’ve tested it on my 5D Mark II, III, and IV as well as my 60D and 60Da and it also doesn’t work. I also tried 3 different batteries with USB C PD outputs. Perhaps this is only for mirrorless cameras?

does the battery door close so the camera will turn on?

It would depend on your camera model; however there are many camera models that are built so that the cable of the ZILR USB-C to Canon LP-E6 Dummy Battery Cable would be able to fit with the battery door closed. I would recommend checking the battery door of your chosen camera to verify if there is a channel for dummy battery cables built in.

Powering through an external battery is certainly a method to help mitigate heat build up in the battery slot on the Canon EOS R6 Mirrorless Camera. The ZILR USB Type-C to Canon LP-E6 Dummy Battery Cable is one approach to take.

Will this device work with any charger or battery source that supports the USB-C power delivery specification? Such as an Anker Power Port III charger or an Anker Power Core III power bank.

I ordered this battery adapter for my canon R5 based upon the previous answer. Upon receiving the adaptor, and being somewhat skeptical, I first plugged it into an Anker PowerCore Elite III charger which supports the power delivery specifications, and checked the voltage delivered to the camera. I found that the battery adapter output voltage is 8.47 volts which is comparable to the Canon battery output (8.4 volts). I also verified that the Anker PowerCore Elite III battery pack is compatible as well.

No, the ZILR USB Type-C to Canon LP-E6 Dummy Battery Cable is incompatible with the Canon EOS R50 Mirrorless Camera (Black) since the camera accepts the Canon LP-E17 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack and not the Canon LP-E6NH Lithium-Ion Battery (7.2V, 2130mAh) style battery.
