An updated spin on a long-time studio standard, the Slate Digital Custom Opto Compressor plug-in features the rich, smooth character of 2A-style hardware compression and a handful of welcome controls not found on the original units. This combination of old-school vibe and on-demand tweakability makes the Custom Opto a versatile and desirable dynamics processor for music producers, mix engineers, and beatmakers who do their work in a DAW rather than using a rack of outboard gear.
As seen on 2A-style compressors, Custom Opto has peak-reduction and output-gain knobs and a glowing VU meter. Unlike the vintage equipment, Custom Opto offers adjustable circuit response speed, ratio, and four tone modes plus a Flat setting, allowing it to not only tame peaks, but also shift the track's timbral impact. Additionally, it provides built-in parallel compression via a mix knob, and switchable stereo linking for use on stems and full mixes.
