Sugar Bytes Nest is a rule-based modular MIDI sequencer plug-in. This superflexible composition tool brings together classical transistor logic with modern computer functions. The wire-patching offers endless possibilities and surprises. With 12 patch scenes and a powerful sound interface, Nest is a little laboratory for complex, intelligent music machines.
Nest is equipped with 20 different modules inspired by classical, transistor-based integrated circuits like shift registers and multiplexers, plus programming tools like the if/else and math modules. A writable Sequencer and a flexible Arpeggiator are also onboard to help you build highly complex sequencing environments and produce music that has a life of its own.
A versatile voice assignment distributes the 8 possible MIDI voices to up to 4 different sound generators like VSTs, internal Synths and Drums, or MIDI channels. This can make Nest not only fun when hosting your favorite plug-ins, but it can also be used to drive your hardware.
- Nest's user interface is divided into two main pages: the Wire page and the Sound page.
- On the Wire page, you can create a patch and send it to up to 8 voice slots. The range of possibilities is endless. More than 20 modules to combine: some for numbers (pitch, velocity, modulation), some for gates (triggers, rhythms). With 12 Scenes, a patch can have many variations to suit your songs structures.
- The Sound page receives these 8 voices and assigns them to 4 channels. You can have a huge layered 8-voice chord, or 3 voices of drums, 3 voices for a chord, and 2 voices for a bass line and some samples. Each Channel can be an internal synth, a VST plug-in, or MIDI output.
- Use the onboard reverb to sweeten your sound. With the multiple audio outs, each sound channel plus the reverb channel can be routed to an individual DAW channel.
