Engineered for 24/7 workloads, or 8760 operational hours per year, this SkyHawk AI drive supports up to 64 HD cameras and 32 additional AI streams, or 16 AI channels. Seagate's ImagePerfect AI technology helps to deliver zero dropped frames, while high reliability is backed by a workload rate of 550TB per year. Seagate built this SkyHawk AI drive with storage capacity of 16TB and a 3.5" form factor, plus a SATA III 6 GB/s interface, a 256MB cache, and a rotational speed of 7200 rpm, all of which help to ensure uninterrupted data transfers with a sustained rate of up to 250 MB/s. Data reliability is further enhanced by 300,000 load/unload cycles, a 2 million hour MTBF, 1 per 1015 non-recoverable read errors per bits read, and an AFR (annualized failure rate) of 0.44%.

I’ve been using these since they came out at 4TB. This is my 8th 16TB Drive and all previous models have lasted a couple years. The 4TB’s have only now started to fail after their warranty period is up at 24/7 operation. So definitely got my value out of them granted I would have liked for them to last more than a couple months beyond warranty..

So far so good

Plugged them in, formatted to my equipment, and they work. Easy peasy. Come back in 3 or 4 years, that's when I'll know more. LOL

The Seagate 8TB SkyHawk AI 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal Surveillance HDD is a CMR type drive. Seagate's website still states all Skyhawk drives are CMR.

A Surveillance hard drive is optimized for video recording, large blocks of data. They sometimes do a different type of error detection and recovery. Although you can certainly use it, a NAS type drive may be better optimized for backup storage of a server.
