B+W MRC Basic 695/092 IR Dark Red Overview

This 77mm 695/092 IR Dark Red MRC Basic Filter from B+W is a moderate strength infrared filter that does not block the complete visible light spectrum, enabling image recording with visible and invisible IR components. The filter is made of precision German optical glass, each side featuring 7 layers of Broadband coating for high contrast pictures with minimal residual reflection and uniform light transmission. This filter works very well, with Rollei B&W Infrared film. I found that an EI of 25 works, well, with TTL metering, and then attaching the filter.

Is this IR filter, or any B+W IR filters, the equivalent of the Hoya 77mm R72 infrared filter?
Asked by: Jeff
Yes, the B+W 695/092 IR Dark Red MRC Basic Filter (77mm) may have similar performance to the Hoya R72 filter. A few other alternatives would be the Haida 77mm NanoPro IR720 Filter, B&H # HAHD459977, or the Kolari Vision Infrared Lens Filter (77mm, 720nm) BH #KO720NM77, or the Urth 77mm Infrared (R72) Lens Filter (Plus+), B&H # URUIRPL77, would also work for your usage needs.
