I was going on a van trip so would be on the road, a lot, with photo stops decided on my the group, so not necessarily where _I_ might want. I wanted to be able to take photos through the van windows without the reflections and while minimizing the chance of bumping my camera with the window. With a little care, this rubber hood could make contact with the window blocking out reflected light.

B+W makes a superior product. These don’t even resemble the cheap hoods from other makers. And it will collapse for storage in your bag or pocket. Provides a degree of protection for the front edge of the lens.
