FLM CP26-TM2 Reviews

Solid Product, Excellent Customer Service

Very solid, light weight Tripod. Use this for shooting birds with Nikon P1100 and a manfrotto video head. Has never let me down, and FLM have been extremely helpful in the few jams I have encountered (mainly the result of shooting on beaches and around salt water, so all my fault).

Light weight, quick, dampens vibration, easy to carry

I will rate this FLM CP26-TMS at 90 or 95%. The good: 1. Quick to set up! Turn the lock ring and drop each leg to the desired length. No more bending over to reach the lowest leg ring as on a traditional tripod. No more fiddling with 3 or 4 leg sections. This technique of having the larger leg on the bottom is the same that Cullmann used in their famous Titan tripods. Those were heavy but quick to set up and rigid. 2. This FLM is deceptively light, but it dampens vibrations. With the 250 lens on my Hasselblad, I can thump a leg and see the vibration stop in maybe 0.5 seconds. I took pictures from a dock at a windy river bank, and had no obvious issues. To consider: 1. A couple of times, I wish the tripod was a bit beefier. But that may be an emotional response. The FLM has performed well so far. The only reverse leg alternative may be the RRS Soar tripods, but they cost close to $1000. 2. You probably need to use a strong ball head. I mounted a Linhof Profi III (see the photos). I have not tested a smaller head like the Profi II. 3. The spike feet may hold the tripod more solidly on mixed outdoor surfaces. Summary: nice light tripod. Go for it.
