Viltrox EF-L Reviews

Does not work with Canon wide angle lenses

This simply does not work at any focal length with the Canon 11-22mm or 18 - 135mm (both EF-S) Images are in a circular and unusable and communication with the camera is out of wack. The camera sees the inside of the adapter regardless of zoom. However, it works perfectly with the EF 70-300 which is what I actually needed it for so I did not send it back.

Unfulfilled promise

The Viltrox lens adapter was my third attempt to mount my Canon L lenses on my Leica CL. Previously, I bought two F brand named adapters; both companies assured me their adapter would work properly. One of the F brandnamed adapter companies revised their compatibility listing to exclude the Leica CL. When I found the Viltrox adapter and saw the Leica CL was tested and found compatible, I pushed further and contacted the manufacturer's agent who assured me their adapter would work properly. I bought it, got it and went to the Viltrox website to check on firmware updates. Their website shows no firmware update. The adapter looked and felt well made and its packaging matched the quality of the adapter. I tried the adapter on my six Canon lenses, all of which were listed as compatible, and none of them worked. I contacted B&H to return this item and to B&H's credit, a return authorization was issued. I'll continue to buy from B&H.

Will the Viltrox EF-L adapter allow full Canon EF ...

Will the Viltrox EF-L adapter allow full Canon EF lens to Leica CL body communication as well as IS, auto focus and auto aperture setting?
Asked by: Ira
It depends if the specific lens that you are using was setup in the firmware that the adapter has. If it was autofocus, body communication, IS, and auto aperture will work. I don't see a compatibility list online though so only way to know is to try it out. Also bare in mind that autofocus tends to slow down with the adapter, specially in video mode it tends to be only manual focus.

Will this work to adapt Canon NFD lenses to the Sigma FP? The Canon lenses are already converted to EF mount.
Asked by: Doug
A native Canon FD-mount manual focus lens designed for use on manual Canon 35mm SLR cameras would not be compatible for use on the Viltrox EF-L Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF or EF-S-Mount Lens to L-Mount Camera. However, if your lens was somehow converted to a native Canon EF-mount lens mount, then yes, the above lens mount adapter would be compatible for your usage needs.
