Small trusted companion

Been using this around the world for three years now, still operating like new. It's compact and I can throw it in my sling bag or a large pocket, or hang it using the threaded hole. I use it mainly for phone camera lighting. It's not so obtrusive in a restaurant and more sacrosanct places, and it's strong enough I can hold it at a distance to get relatively diffused light on food and small-ish items. With another/window light I can match the color temperature on small products and fill in shadows from the other side. It's great for low-effort straight-to-socials photography. At and near 100% it's sufficient for selfie vlogging. It's given me photos I otherwise would have had nothing (e.g., no DSLR allowed). Pair with your phone on a Platypod or similar and you technically don't have a tripod. The controls are as good as they get with a wheel and buttons, which is sufficient for color temp and power. But I'm thankful for the app, since it's a far nicer experience especially if you're working with HSI/RGB. Battery life is good for the size, ranging anywhere from 2-12 hrs depending on intensity. Charges with USB-C and displays status. Holds a charge for quite a while, I charge so infrequently I can't tell you how often (I keep it below 10% most times). Magnets are on the lower three sides (not the control side), and effectively sticks from the back on steel. It's attached to a steel drawer within easy reach for me. Outside, in practice it's difficult to find something sufficiently flat and ferrous so you could bring a steel plate/bar, but it's also got a threaded hole which is far more dependable. I've never taken the silicone diffuse material off. It's perfect for what I'm using it for. I'd gladly buy it again for that.

does what expected

pretty much what expected and comparable to other brands I have used. Only down side in comparison to others is lack of diffusion and grid.

The SmallRig RM75 Mini On-Camera LED Video Light (B&H# SMRM75MLVL) accepts regular USB 5V at up to 2A for charging, or 9V 2A USB QC protocol charging (which is sometimes called quick charging). It may also be powered on to provide light while it is plugged into that power. However, it will not both charge its battery and provide illumination simultaneously.
