Blackmagic Design Micro Converter WPSU Reviews

HDMI to SDI cable converter

The Blackmagic micro converters are easy to use as no setup is required. Picture quality is great. The only complaint is we had two of them fail in the last year, one was covered in warranty and the other was out of warranty.

Wow!

I needed to run an HDMI signal from the church sanctuary to the fellowship hall through an existing coaxial cable. I accomplished this by converting the HDMI to SDI. I needed an SADI to HDMI converter on the receiving end. I got the converter quickly and in time for the evening Christmas service. B&H is my hero.

That should work since that camera most likely outputs the standards supported by the Micro Converter.

Will this work solely as a LUT box for calibrating a TV? I do not intend on hooking up a camera or computer to the box.
Asked by: David
It is unclear what your source is. The converter will apply the LUT to whatever is on the input and send to the output.

How long of an SDI cable run can I expect? Trying to do a multi-camera baseball game and have to cover some long distances. Wireless transmitters are out of my budget and I already have the cables.
Asked by: Daniel
Depending on the SDI cable rating, quality, and format you are trying to pass, you can run up to about 300ft of SDI cable before having to reclock the signal.

The Microconverter HDMI to SDI is just that. If you want the other way consider the Microconverter SDI to HDMI or the Bidirectional models that have both.

I am using this to convert SDI from PTZoptics camera into ATEM Mini Pro. getting no signal. Thoughts? Camera works fine with straight HDMI cable but want a longer distance, so SDI was solution.
Asked by: Jerry
Some of these cameras will work at 30 FPS and lower but at higher frame rates do not output a standard SMPTE SDI signal. This may or may not be the cause. You might contact support in your region.

Hi ther, the only setting i can change from this device is A or B Level, what do one or another does?
Asked by: Luciano
Normally you would leave the Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G (with Power Supply) on level A. At 3G rates of 50, 59.94 and 60 there are two supported SDI Protocols. You would set it based on the the equipment it is connected two. If you are unclear if you need A or B, set B. If you are not seeing an image, you can set it to A.
