Lupo Dome Pro Reviews
slightly better than Aputure Light Dome II
- quality is slightly better than Aputure Light Dome II - the removable inner diffuser is bigger, not that close to the light source and and can be mounted on clips instead of velcro. - on the picture they are both moued on C300d Mark II and both are on 100% power. Aputure is on the left. Lupo is on the right. - does not have any Lupo brand logo or letters.
Great (but with one drawback)
I like this softbox very much... the size, construction, and options for light control are wonderful. It does what it is supposed to quite well and provides the large source controlled light source I wanted. My only issue is the rods for the box are not removable from the Bowens speed ring. That's not a significant issue when shooting locally, but to pack this for travel requires space wide enough for the diameter of the ring, and long enough for the box and rods. It's not something you can easily throw into a light case and lay flat like a Chimera or other similar lightboxes. It's going to need a shipping case all its own which just adds more checked bags for flight. I do like the operation and deployment of the lightbox with the little locks for each rod, I just wish you could remove the rods with the lightbox attached from the speedring. It's VERY well made, so no worry about construction, but I wouldn't want to ship it with light stands or other heavy long items that might damage it in transit.
