X-Rite i1Basic Pro 3 Overview

Designed to achieve highly accurate and consistent color settings for profiling displays and projectors and assuring print quality, the i1Basic Pro 3 and i1iO 3 Bundle combines the i1Pro 3 spectrophotometer with i1iO Automated Scanning table, adding hands-free chart reading capabilities on various substrates up to 10mm and allowing its use with virtually any material up to 10mm thick.

The included spectrophotometer features a large 8mm aperture for precise results on a variety of display surfaces. This Product Cannot Profile Your Printer. It Comes With All The Physical Hardware To Do It, But The Software Version Does Not Support Profiling Papers. Even The Description Talks About How It Can Read All These Targets, But You Can't Unless You...wait For It...spend Another $2k On The 'Publish' Version Of The Software. I'm Thinking Of Returning This Whole Thing Since They Are Obviously Severely Gouging You On Software Unlocks.

X-Rite FTW!

Just upgraded to the i1Pro3 spectrometer and I'm super happy. I use it with DisplayCal - the ArgyllCMS frontend - in order to profile and calibrate my LG monitor as part of my color managed workflow. Gamut coverage achieved at D50, 75 nits was amazing: 99.9% sRGB, 93.5% Adobe RGB and 94.6% DCI P3. Average ΔE = 0.31 and max ΔE = 1.24 I was never able to get numbers like this using colorimeters. Yes, the X-rite i1Basic Pro 3 package is pricey; but if color is important to you, and you want the images on your screen to match your prints, this is the way to go.

The i1Basic Pro 3 is not licensed to profile printers of any kind. You are limited to a maximum of 4 connected MONITORS for Display Profiling. There is no limit on printers.

Can this unit be used to create a colorimeter ...

Can this unit be used to create a colorimeter profile - like i1Display Pro Plus - for a display?
Asked by: Willian
X-Rite has never had a methodology to do that in the field. If somebody else is claiming to be able to perform a colorimeter profile, direct your questions to them. The X-Rite i1Display colorimeters are characterized and calibrated with spectrophotometers at the manufacturing facility before shipping. There should be no need for additional calibrating or profiling the colorimeter thereafter.

Can I create a printer profile that measures custom illuminant with the program provided in I1Basic Pro 3?
Asked by: seunghee
No, the i1Basic Pro 3 does not have licensing for any Printer Profiling. The i1Publish Pro 3 can create Printer Profiles, and you can choose any standard Illuminant (defaults to D50), choose a specific Kelvin Temperature, or Measure Ambient Room Light to use as the illuminant.
