Godox V850III Reviews

Excelent Canon Alternative

I unloaded my older (first gen) Canon 600 RT speedlites because they were very unreliable when I needed them the most. Canon is out of their minds selling speedlites for $1000 + now so I looked to Godox as I already have their AD300 Pros and wanted my lighting situation simplified. I found these and I don't think you can beat it for the price. They feel well made and the battery pack is great and lasts me a full wedding (10 hours) without any issue. It's nice to get away from AA's also. This flash DOES NOT have ETTL which is why it's priced the way it is but considering I've never used ETTL, it just felt like one less menu option to mess with. The flash works great on my Canon Mark 4's. The only issue is that it does not have the focus assist IR beam. Well it does, and you can turn it on, but it will only stay on for 10/20 or 30 seconds at a time and then needs to be turned on again. It won't always fire the IR focus assist when you half press the shutter like my old Canon 600's. I think it's because this lacks ETTL. Kind of an annoyance but I'll learn to live with it. Overall a great flash and priced well.

A solid, if forgotten, flash

Everyone's all about the TTL flashes these days, and as such the V850 doesn't get much love anymore. But if it meets your needs, it's an incredibly reliable, powerful, and versatile product (albeit not as versatile as the V860iii and V1, of course). And for people who are continually annoyed at the plastic Sony hot shoe that often breaks (though this has yet to happen to me on my many, many flashes (I might have a problem, but I digress)), this flash, being universal and not requiring the Sony MI Shoe contacts at the front for TTL, has a bog standard metal hot shoe that should be more durable.

Unfortunately no, the V850III is not compatible with the Canon 200DII/SL3 camera. However the V860 would be compatible instead. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/2yzVRO0
