MagMod MagSphere 2 Overview

The MagMod MagSphere 2 is designed to attach to your hot shoe flash magnetically via an optional MagGrip 2 adapter. It shapes your flash into a soft, omni-directional bare-bulb light source that works as an on-camera diffuser or small bounce card. This v2 release of the MagSphere is 40% lighter than the original version and allows for more efficient use.

The required MagGrip 2 adapter is especially optimized for round-head flashes but is compatible with standard ones as well. The adapter stretches and secures over the flash head, and provides a magnetic base for quickly attaching and removing the MagSphere on the fly. The MagSphere 2 is made from durable silicone that retains 99% of its elasticity over time, even after long, repeated use.

This has become my favorite light diffuser recently. I have gone through too many light modifiers in the past, but decided to get this one anyway after the recomendations of a colleague. Actually, the MagMod sat in my bag for months unused until I lost my Gary Phong Lightsphere. I needed a diffuser for a project so this was prime time for the MagMod. I was pleasently surprised ! The MagMod worked just as good as my Gary Phong, was lighter, did not fall off the flash as often, was lighter and did not block as much flash light. Actually I think you only lose less than one F-stop with this modifier. This means that your flash does not have to work as hard, which saves batteries. The results were excellent ! Softer light, much softer shadows and no weird color tints. Another advantage is that it is easy to store in your camera bag because it's semi-collapsible. I also purchased the grid for it when I need more directional light. Very happy with this modifier and would buy another one if I lost it...

Thank you for the question. Although MagMod is fits the vast majority of Speedlights on the market it will not the Bolt VB-22.

From our testing, the MagSphere 2 works with the original MagGrip without issues. According to a note on MagMod's website, "MagMod 2 modifiers work best when used together, but are compatible with original MagMod modifiers."

To use the MagMod MagSphere 2 with your Godox V100, you will also need the MagMod MagGrip 2, which will stretch over the flash and better line up with the magnets of the MagSphere 2.

Unfortunately, the MagMod MagSphere 2 is not compatible with the Godox AD200 Pro 2 flash. The required MagGrip 2 to attach the MagSphere to a flash would cover the vent on the AD200 Pro 2.

Yes, to use the MagMod MagSphere XL with Profoto strobes, the MagMod Profoto Mount for Reflector XL is needed.
