Wolfen DP31 Reviews
Crisp, clean, and contrasty.
Developed as regular B/W negative film at 8 ISO in XTOL. Once developed the film stock is some of the clearest I've seen. I found this film to have lovely detail, using it as a microfilm in a few test shots revealed clear detail even under 100x microscope examination, well beyond the resolution of my standard scanning setup. Images were generally excellent, great contrast and sharpness, with a surprising amount of dynamic range when properly exposed. The aesthetic of the images tended to be very nice, with people who were shown images made with the film reporting a surreal or dream-like quality that made the images enchanting. A bit difficult to shoot properly at times because of the low ISO rating but that is to be expected. My only real complaint was my camera did not really like the bulk-load style cartridge it came in, making it difficult to actually close the film door, and there was a persistent scratch line down the center of nearly the whole roll.
