The Git-Lite filled Kinesis SafariSack 4.2, in khaki, is a rugged bean bag for supporting a DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera on surfaces such as the ground, a car door (with the window open), a chair, a table, or a tree limb. It is quicker to use than a tripod. The bag has a zippered compartment packed with a lightweight filler called Git-Lite. Git-Lite provides better support than Kinesis buckwheat hulls yet has half the weight of poly. It was originally designed for tactical (rifle) shooting bags.
The SafariSack 4.2 can be used in three modes: flat, saddlebag-style, and ballast. In saddlebag-style, two cinch straps are used to set up the SafariSack folded in half. (In this mode, it's recommended to only fill the bag about 2/3 full.) A camera can be snugly cradled on top when the bag is placed over a car door or used on the ground for additional elevation. In ballast mode, the SafariSack is attached to to your tripod or light stand to increase stability when using long lenses or in windy conditions.
The SafariSack 4.2 is made from a combination of 400-denier and 420-denier Diamond Ripstop nylon fabrics. These tough fabrics are supplemented by SlipNot, a rubberized-type fabric. There's also a sewn-in hand strap. Also, a separately-sold Kinesis Y208 quick-release extender strap can be clipped to the hand strap of the bag to be used as a shoulder strap, or in order to use it as longer tie down when securing the bag to the top of a vehicle.
