Is this mic picking up footsteps on a theater stage?
Asked by: Anonymous
It all depends on the floor. It will pick up hollow sounds so unless your floor is solid, you would want to mount it on some foam rubber or other absorbent material.

I'm looking for a microphone to capture dancer ...

I'm looking for a microphone to capture dancer audio on a stage (steps, claps, tambourine, etc.). I'm also hoping to pick up the audience applause/cheering with the same microphone. I'm hoping I could tape this down on the edge of the stage to achieve that. Has anyone done this? What were your results? What kind of microphone would work better? Thanks!
Asked by: Spencer
This microphone would work great for that purpose, especially for the audio on a recording. It is very sensitive, so you wouldn't need much headroom on the console. Given the size and weight, you should be able to keep this secure with a piece of gaff on the bottom side of the mic.

question

I'm a little confused about their statement Self-contained electronics eliminate need for external power modules . It IS a condenser mic. I am assuming it still requires phantom power. Would the 12v phantom power from a typical shure mic mixer provide adequate performance?
Asked by: Anonymous
It is a 48volt phantom powered mic. Whether or not it can work on 12 volts can be answered by reading the spec on the AT web site.

question

Will this mic work on a DSLR?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. I use it with a DSLR as well as a basic consumer level camcorder. Youll need a 3.5mm to 3-Pin XLR Female adapter cable though.
