Great mount, crappy cables.

What would have been a great product ruined by too short of cables. I had in my head these would be 6ft, which maybe they are, but they are too short to reach the back of my computer. My computer is maybe 4ft away. With routing + ~2.5ft. I even bought and installed a separate USB 3 connector that links to my motherboard and slots as a PCI. Once the mount was here, I discovered my only options would be to move the mount 2ft from where I'd planned to install it or plug in the 2 USBs + 2 3.5mms on the front ports of my case... neither ideal, I went with the first, and I'm still thinking about returning it. The mount itself is good. Very strong gas strut that easily supports my monitor. At the time of purchase I had a 27" and was looking at 32s. I ended up buying a 34" ultrawide since I knew it would fit -- 13lbs so this mount's not even stressed. I also considered putting a TV on it as I was looking at 43" screens at the time. Went with larger that do not support 200x200 bolt pattern so can't really do that.. All in all I give it 4 stars. It would have been 3 but it does look fairly sleek and I'm not super worried about it dropping my monitor. A few other complaints: lifting it up is heavy -- takes quite a bit of initial force to get it to rise (but I may have the gas strut a little too tight). The 'tilt' on it isn't like the rest of it -- I can move the monitor freely in every direction except tilt -- for that you'll need to use a supplied alan wrench to adjust. Not a huge deal, just annoying. It also uses a plastic clip to affix the monitor to the mount. While I'm not *super* worried about this, as another reviewer pointed out it's a little unnerving. Definitely a weak point of the monitor mount and a critical one at that. Cable management is good. I recommend NOT using stiff cables if you plan on using this: stiff cables can tear out your monitor ports so buy flexible ones and possibly right angle adaptors. I plan on purchasing a couple of short HDMI extensions I can route through the provided spaces and connect just beyond the base. I also went non-standard with the instructions, pivoting the base receiving sleeve to the front; it doesn't look as polished but it *does* allow more range in movement whereas the standard install (with it off to the right, as seen in the pictures) cuts your ability to swing the monitor all the way to the left because it collides with the base bar at a ~45 angle. Much preferred and wish this was the default setup (with sleeve hardware hidden in back). All in all 4-star monitor stand. Could have bought one ~40% cheaper even from this same company to do the same job, but I wanted the ports and extra weight. 8-10ft cables would have made it much better and easily made the stars 5.
