The CL 1B is single channel optical compressor with a push-pull tube amplifier. The unit contains a unique low distortion gain-reduction element, and the input and output are balanced and are fully floating.
The gain reduction element is positioned immediately after the input transformer, and is controlled by the sidechain amplifier, which also contains the two circuits for time control, one for fixed, the other for variable attack/release. The two time controllers on the CL 1B can be used either separately or combined. The gain-reduction element is followed by a tube based push-pull amplifier, which has a variable gain of up to 30dB.
Several compressors can be linked together. The input and output transformers of the CL 1B come with a static-screen between primary and secondary wirings.
