Celestron 94036 Overview

The Celestron Smart DewHeater and Controller 4x gathers and analyzes information in real time to warm your optics just enough to prevent dew. The device can control four dew heaters at once (one for an optical tube, another for a guide scope, another for an eyepiece, for example). It has four 12 VDC output ports that can power your mount, focus motor, camera, etc., and one of the ports has variable voltage, which you can adjust from 3V to 12V. In addition, the controller features three powered USB ports.

At the heart of the controller is a powerful microprocessor that gathers information from the sensors, computes the data, and automatically adjusts your dew heaters. The controller monitors the ambient temperature and humidity using its integrated environmental sensor and monitors the heaters' temperatures using thermistors. You can run the Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4x as a standalone accessory. Or, if you want to view data from the controller and make manual adjustments, you can connect it to your Celestron telescope's hand control or your PC. The controller works with NexStar+ or StarSense hand controls running the latest firmware or Celestron CPWI telescope control software, included with every Celestron mount.

This is my second Celestron Smart DewHeater and Power Controller 4x. I purchased this because I liked the first one I purchased so much. This is well-built, multi-functional, and serves as an excellent hub for connecting dew heaters, USB devices, and for providing steady reliable power to the devices that need it. One of the major selling points for me was the way the Controller can attach to Losmandy plates. No screw mounting, it just slides on so it's easy on and off. I found this to be an essential component of my setup to avoid having dangling cables that could possible get snagged. I would highly recommend this!

Well thought out power controller and smart dew heater. Has 4 power outputs for dew heaters. With thermistor inputs for variable power supply to dew heaters. Has 3 aux ports. Increasing the single aux port on the Nexstar 8se mount. 3 USB ports and PC input. Together with 3 12v power outputs and 1 variable power output port. The controller has a bridge with status lights. The bridge helps with cable management. The controller works with CPWI Software and or N.I.N.A. Alternatively it can be managed via the hand controller. Good construction. A great addition to your astrophotography rig.
