Featuring an aluminum frame with small built-in magnets, the 850nm Infrared Magnetic Clip-In Filter for Nikon Z from Kolari Vision secures magnetically to the camera mount, and your lens then mounts on top. The filter sits securely between the camera and lens. It's compatible with full frame Nikon Z-mount cameras.
Unlike the 590nm and 665nm versions of this Kolari filter, this 850nm version does not require a full spectrum modification to be made to your camera, but only as long as you use the camera mounted on a tripod and set long exposures. Otherwise, a full spectrum modification is required. That entails removing the camera's low-pass filter and replacing it with a clear filter. Once that's done, this 850nm filter will work as intended to block visible light up to 850nm from the light spectrum. (Kolari Vision can make the modification for you at a cost if you send in your camera to them.)
The filter material of the clip-in filter is glass. A small removal tool is included but not required. The compact tool looks like a guitar pick and is included just in case, as the filter can easily be removed by hand.
