SPL TDx Transient Designer Overview

Audio professionals looking for a simple dynamics processor that manipulates the envelopes of audio signal levels will be impressed with the SPL TDx, a transient designer for 500 series enclosure that has revolutionized music production in a significant way.

With the TDx Transient Designer, it is possible to manipulate the envelopes of audio signals levels independently. Accelerate or slow down transients, lengthen or shorten sustain times—with just two controls: attack and sustain. All time constants are automated in a musical way and optimize themselves adaptively according to the characteristics of the input signal.

  • On/Bypass: activates (On) or deactivates (Bypass) the module. This allows you to quickly switch between processed and unprocessed signal.
  • Signal LED: indicates whether an audio signal is present at the input which has a level higher than -20 dB.
  • Attack: can be used to increase or attenuate the attack phase of a signal by up to 15 dB. Positive attack increases the amplitude of the attack phase. Negative attack attenuates the amplitude of the attack phase.
  • Sustain: the decay phase of a signal can be increased or attenuated by up to 24 dB. Positive Sustain extends the decay. Negative Sustain shortens the decay.
  • Mix: allows continuously blending between processed (WET) and unprocessed (DRY) signals.
  • Output: output gain can be attenuated in order to optimally drive following devices.
  • The Differential Envelope Technology (DET): enables, through differential envelopes, level-independent processing of dynamic signal characteristics. Only two controls are needed to control the transient response.
