Whether you are a business professional, photographer, or graphic designer, you can turn your desktop in to a full-fledged workstation with the CalDigit TS4 Thunderbolt 4 18-in-1 Hub. When combined with a Thunderbolt 4 compatible notebook or PC, the TS4 expands the utility of your device with ample ports and enhanced data transfer speeds for a streamlined desktop setup.

A single Thunderbolt 4 host connection gives you two additional Thunderbolt 4 ports, offering data transfer speeds up to 40 Gb/s and daisy-chaining technology so you can connect multiple devices such as storage drive arrays, displays, and more. Support a wide range of peripherals with three USB Type-C and five USB Type-A ports, all sporting a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface for enhanced data-transfer speeds and quick file migration. Photographers can easily upload files with microSD and SD UHS-II ports built directly into the front of the device, alleviating the need for pesky adapters. You also get additional multimedia functionality with a DisplayPort 1.4 output, 3.5mm front access combo audio jack, and two 3.5mm rear line-in and line-out jacks.

DisplayPort Output
The TB4 can support displays up to 8K resolution when only a single display is connected. Otherwise, the TB4 can support dual 4K 60 Hz displays on select devices such as Intel-based Macs, Windows operating systems, and Chrome OS. Original M1 based Macs do not support dual displays.
Power Delivery
Charge your device while it is connected to the hub with 98W Power Delivery, ensuring you are never low on notebook power when you need to pack up and go. Each downstream Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4.0 Type-C port offers 15W, front USB Type-C ports provide 20W, and the rest of the USB Type-C and Type-A ports offer 7.5W, allowing you to charge your phones, tablets, and other mobile devices when in use.
Internet Connection
If you do not have access to your Wi-Fi connection or simply prefer a wired connection, a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port is available so you can quickly download documents, watch your favorite media, or even take part in conference calls with ease.
System Requirements
Thunderbolt 4 is compatible with a range of operating systems running macOS 11.4 (Big Sur) or above as well as Windows 10 (20H2) or later. While Thunderbolt 4 is the optimal choice for greater system efficiency, Thunderbolt 4 is also compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB 4.0 Type-C devices including select Chromebooks, iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad Mini, and Windows Tablets with reduced performance.

CalDigit TS4 Reviews

Works For Me

I got mine paired with an OWC Thunderbolt 4 Hub. I updated the firmware and I still get my USB-C SSD drive to disconnect after my MacBook goes to sleep but it reconnects automatically, so I just moved that drive to by studio display connection. Other than that, everything works flawlessly. I had an OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock and this CalDigit is more compact.

No longer a Caldigit fan

Big fan of the TS2 and TS3. Bought this a little over a month ago, so I can no longer return it. BUT, my TS4 - after HOURS of troubleshooting - seems to be the culprit for massive kernel_task CPU usage, to that point that my computer is unusable. I narrowed it down to that - and not matter WHAT was plugged into the hub, it became a CPU hog every time. I don't know why, but I can't afford to have this destroy my workflow. I just emailed support, but I'm not sure what they can do. I bought this well after the firmware update, so I doubt it's that. I have spent two days trying to figure out the problems and it seems to start and end with the TS4, sadly.

Quality is expensive

At first, I tried to save a couple hundred bucks by going with a different Thunderbolt Hub. But I quickly realized I made a mistake, when I noticed cheap plastic casing along with some coil whine while connected. This Hub doesn't have any of those problems. Obviously, it's the most expensive one too. But this feels like it will genuinely last, probably outlive my current laptop. It's worth paying the extra premium cost to get this Hub.

Sometimes, you do get what you pay for... and this is true with the CalDigit TS4. It's the most expensive, most premium Thunderbolt dock on the market. It's made entirely of metal, except for the rubber stands. It's completely silent (no coil whine, like certain other docks have) and has 18 ports (more than any other dock). All of the USB ports are Super Speed (10Gbps). The Ethernet port is 2.5 Gigabit. Both card readers are UHS II. Literally everything is the best it can possibly be. That's why it's $400. One thing to note if you plan on gaming, the DisplayPort 1.4 will support UHD 4K @ up to 144hz. The DisplayPort on many gaming monitors will support a refresh rate above this, so be aware. Aside from that, any resolution below UHD 4K will be supported @ up to 240hz. The same goes for the Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Buyer Beware!!!

I purchased the Caldigit TS4 on June 14, 2023. The included power supply unit has a siren like noise emanating from it. Buyer Beware... This is a known issue which has not been resolved. Caldigit spoke about the issue on their own twitter account back in May 2022 and said that a fix was coming. It's not fixed. I've reached out to Caldigit customer support several times. Their phone support is none existent, and no one has replied to my emails. I've tried plugging the unit into other outlets, and an APC 1500 power back up unit, all with the same results, not to mention that my power supply is apparently the revised (fixed) version with Rev. B written next to the serial numbers. I've seen online posts where Caldigit pushes the blame on buyers for having bad/faulty wiring or other devices causing the issue. Additionally the siren noise becomes more pronounced when the unit is plugged into a thunder bolt 4 port on my 16 M1Pro MacBook Pro. If you have a quiet workspace the sound will be extremely annoying. I'll be sending the TS4 back if I don't have any response from Caldigit.

I had a number of older USB-A hard drives that needed a connection to my new MacBook Pro. No fuss, no hassle, no new cables, no expertise needed. Just plugged everything into this hub and I was up and running. Plenty of ports of all kinds for all your needs. Quiet, compact with no heating issues. Highly recommended.
