Add a cinema zoom lens to your documentary, broadcast, or online production kit with this Catta Ace 35-80mm T2.9 Cine Zoom Lens from DZOFilm. The cine lens is designed to maintain focus as you smoothly zoom in or out. The Catta line reproduces accurate color and features a smooth focus/defocus transition. It features a wide T2.9 to T22 aperture, a 16-blade iris for a smooth bokeh, and a long 29.1" close focus range.

True to its cine design, it has a focus rotation of 270°, a 100° zoom rotation range, and a 75° iris rotation range. The lens features a PL mount, and an EF mount bayonet is included to change out with the included screws and shim kit. Multiple accessories are included with the lens, including front and rear lens caps, a shim set, a support base, and a support rod.

These are a fantastic value and create a great image. If you're just looking to save a bit of money or time by buying a couple zooms instead of 6 primes then these will make you very happy. But if you're you're shopping for a zoom for it's unique capabilities then keep reading. First off these perform excellent. They make a great image thats not too dissimilar to the vespids although they're doing a lot more literal bending of physics to do the same job with more elements than you'd see in a prime, so the vespids will naturally look just a bit cleaner. Build quality is nearly in line with the Vespids. Focusing ring is very smooth if you grip it from both sides but putting all the weight on one side will introduct just the smallest bit of drag, given away further by the an extra metalic sliding sound. No real complaints about the iris or focus rings but in my set the zoom ring on the 35-80 is quite stiff. This would be fine, since you cant knock it out of framing but instead of being nicely dampened it's a bit sticky and requires a good bit of activation energy to get it moving. So if i've got a shot with a slow creeping zoom I'm ending up with a series of micro crash zooms jumping closer and closer in. I either have to switch to the 70-135 or pull zoom more quickly to the point it's not the shot I'm looking for. I tried a magic fiz and a nucleus M but the issue is more prevalent with these than when pulling by hand. Still an incredible set thats well worth having. I'll be checking in to see if it loosens up or the manufacturer's have any advice.

DZOFilm does not have a servo for the DZOFilm Catta Ace FF 35-80 & 70-135mm T2.9 Zoom Lens Bundle (PL/EF, Black), but for motorized zoom control, you could use a lens control system such as the Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Lens Control System Partial Kit V, BH #TIWLCT03K5.
