ASUS SCAR 17 17.3" Reviews
Best gaming laptop
The pc is great for gaming it’s vents do get hot but it will still run anything you want to play
Excelent!!!
Excellent laptop, impressive performance. I'm very happy
What do I do with the transformer?
I don't like the location of the AC port, it's very uncomfortable. but more inconvenient is the power cord design. They located the transformer in the middle of the cable. in places other than table, it falls down and disconnects the AC port.
A beast in more way than 1
This machine is a beast-and in more than one way. I waited a few weeks before writing this to get used to the machine and deal with the pain that is Windows 11. This isn't about Windows 11, so I'll say no more about that. The machine is large, having a 17 inch monitor it's 16 wide by almost 12 deep and about 1 inch tall. If you plan to haul this around in a backpack, you can do it, but you will probably not like it much. With the machine just under 6 pounds and the 280W power brick another pound or two, it's a lot of weight to carry. The power adapter is literally a brick, well almost as large as one anyway, it comes in at 7 x 3.5 x 1.5 (LxWxH). Not small or light, weighing in at 826g (29 oz. or 1.8 LBS) All and all, it's a large heavy machine, it is portable, and I love to be able to play games or whatever, wherever I would like. Due to its size it isn't very comfortable on your lap, and can get quite warm. There is a reason for all this size though, this machine is fast, I mean really fast. The I9 processor and 3080 laptop GPU are a great combination allowing great rendering with any title I have tried. The large 17 monitor is also very nice, sharp and clear. The 240Hz refresh is a really nice touch as well. According to various sites the RTX 3080 laptop GPU benchmarks at about the same as a desktop RTX 3070, so really good stuff for a laptop. The i9-12900h is no real benefit over the i7-12700h CPU found in other ASUS models from what I've been able to find. Userbenchmarks.com shows a 3% performance difference between the two. Upgrades, or access to memory and hard drives is really, really straight forward. One of the first things I did was add a second SSD. This took me about 10 minutes to complete and was super-simple. My only warning is to keep track of which screws go where in the bottom cover. I messed mine up and the middle screw I did use put pressure on the trackpad and caused it not to work. Not permanent damage, just an annoyance. On the subject of the trackpad, it is mediocre at best and feels like it goes ka-chunk every time it's pressed. And, worst of all, you cannot play games with it. There is no comfortable way to right click and move the cursor using the trackpad. This is more of a windows driver issue than hardware. If the manufacturer of the trackpad bothered, they could have written a driver to handle this, which would have been nice, seeing as it is sold as a gaming laptop. The keyboard is mediocre as the keys are pretty squishy. I do wish there was a bit more resistance. Though, realize, I prefer blue keys in my keyboards so this probably makes me a bit biased. Typing this review up feels okay. Do I recommend this machine? Yes. If you are looking for a gaming laptop and super-portability is not important, this will work well for you. Would I buy it again? Yes.
Best laptop I’ve ever had
Title speaks for itself. Runs every game I’ve played on it with ease and amazing graphics. If you’re going to spend thousands on a laptop it’d better be this one.
Asus Strix Scar 17
Laptop is amazing. Build quality is very good and It looks so good and the RGB is so fun to play with. Performances are amazing, it is so fast, but it is so loud at the same time. Overall good purchase and i love it!
Hello
I love this lap🙌 i9, 3070ti, 16ddr, but 1tb ssd not too much, i need change 2 tb or more🫠
Powerhouse and efficient computer.
This laptop is amazing. The speed and graphics are superb and the lighting effects are amazing. I can play games and not have buffering or freezing. The Keystone slot is an added plus. I can have my game launch and the settings automatically loaded. The shadow drive gives me added2 memory and when I remove the Keystone the Laptop locks and I do not have to worry about anyone getting in . This is a powerhouse computer with a load of options.
