Fully immerse yourself in creativity, entertainment, and more with the 27" Apple Studio Display. With its 27" active viewing area and exceptionally thin bezels that allow you to fully focus on the 5120 x 2880 resolution 5K Retina screen, the Studio Display is designed to elevate your computing experience. Support for 1.07 billion colors and wide P3 color delivers lifelike photos and videos. However, the Studio Display doesn't just enhance your creative workflow—it boosts your collaboration and entertainment experiences. There is also a six-speaker audio system comprised of four woofers and two tweeters that immerses you in music and videos using Dolby Atmos virtual surround sound.

Connect your system through the Thunderbolt 3 port, which delivers up to 96W of power to your MacBook, iPad Pro, iPad Air, and other compatible devices. The rear panel also includes three 10 Gb/s USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports that allow you to quickly connect phones, external storage devices, tablets, and other peripherals to your computer through the monitor. Its included VESA mount adapter allows you to attach the screen onto a wall, swivel arm, or multi-monitor stand in portrait or landscape mode.

Design
The Studio Display features a refined all-aluminum chassis with slim borders, housing a stunning 5120 x 2880 resolution 5K Retina screen that provides 218 ppi (pixels per inch) for sharp details.
Finish
The Apple Studio Display is available in two versions: one with a standard glass finish and another with nano-texture glass. Both are engineered for low reflectivity, but the nano-texture finish offers enhanced glare reduction for those who are a bit more sensitive or work under harsh lighting conditions.
True Tone Technology
True Tone technology utilizes an ambient light sensor to measure and adjust the color intensity of the display for accurate colors based on your environment.
Bionic A13 Chip
A powerful Apple Bionic A13 chip drives the display's advanced features, including Center Stage, spatial audio, the directional microphone array, and Apple Siri.
Front 12MP Ultra Wide Camera with Center Stage
An Ultra Wide webcam is built into the display, featuring a 12MP sensor and a 122° field of view, making it suitable for FaceTime and the Center Stage feature.
Center Stage
Center Stage uses the Ultra Wide camera and machine learning to change the way you participate in video calls. As you move around, it automatically pans to keep you centered in the frame. When others join in or leave the call, the view expands or zooms in. Center Stage works with FaceTime and other video conferencing apps for an even more engaging experience.
Six-Speaker Cinematic Sound
Four force-cancelling woofers deliver bold, deep bass with minimum distortion while the two high-performance tweeters provide accurate mids and crisp highs to fully immerse you in audio.
Spatial Audio
Experience movie-theater or concert-hall sound with the Dolby Atmos virtual surround-sound system.
Microphone Array
The studio quality three-microphone array uses directional beamforming so that your voice comes in loud and clear, not your background noise.
Reference Modes
To adapt to the variety of standards that content creators work with in media such as digital cinema (P3-DCI), photography (P3-D65), HDTV video (BT.709-BT.1886), design and print (P3-D50), Internet and web (sRGB), and so on, Reference Modes reconfigure the display to match. It optimizes values like color space, white point, gamma, and brightness. Alternatively, users can also set up their own custom profile as needed.
VESA Mount Adapter
This display includes a VESA adapter for landscape or portrait mode mounting. Users have the option of purchasing a stand that allows you to adjust the tilt by 30° or one that supports both tilt and height adjustments.

    Apple Studio Display Reviews

This is the one to have.

I was initially going to try to use an old Apple 23 Cinema Display I have, but after reading about the various monitors out there, I became aware of scaling problems and I just wanted it to work out of the box. I didn't know it had a Surround Sound Music System in it. Being a musician, that is a sweet plus. The size and clarity is perfect for me.

I hated to pay this much for a monitor to replace my old Dell 27. And then I plugged it in and started working. It's been two weeks and I'm still stunned at how good everything on this monitor looks. It's expensive and worth it.

Works Perfectly with Macs. Windows PC Use Frustrating

Coming from a late 2015 5K iMac, I basically knew what to expect from the Apple Studio Display. It looks good, has excellent color accuracy for my photo and video needs, has excellent build quality, and with my Macbook Pro it is basically plug and play. Perfect operation for the past few weeks with the MBP. I also have a mid-range gaming PC with a GC Titan Ridge PCI-E Thunderbolt card installed (intended for use with this monitor), and it works with webcam, speakers, and microphone, but only from a fresh boot. The Apple Studio Display will only pick up the Windows PC from fresh boot or waking from sleep. If I hot swap the cable or use a monitor switcher to move over to the PC input while it is powered on but without a distinct boot or wake-up event, the Apple Studio Display will not see it. When waking from sleep, the Apple Studio Display loses the peripheral functions, despite booting with the speakers and webcam. I am 90% an Apple user, so I can deal with these minor inconveniences, as the PC will only get occasional, recreational use. The inability of this monitor to function properly with any Thunderbolt input is extremely frustrating, and pretty typical of the Apple design paradigm. Apple needs to update the firmware on this thing to make it easier to use with any Thunderbolt / USB-C display compatible device.

The speakers are great, camera is pretty bad, screen is nice albeit a bit contrasty compared to other monitors I have calibrated the same (benq sw270c). I wanted this for a while and now that I have it, I know I could've lived without it.

    absolutely stunning resolution

I feel so lucky and privileged to be able to work with this display and my new Mac Studio. I am still to discover all endless possibilities of this display. My big thank you to PayBoo cards financing option to be able to continue my work uninterrupted with these amazing tools.

Can you run two of these monitors with a Mac Mini M1?
    Asked by: Lawrence
Yes, you can connect two Apple 27" Studio Displays to a Mac Mini M1. One connection through the Thunderbolt and the other through the HDMI port however the HDMI port only supports up to 4K / 60 Hz resolution. The Apple Studio display only has Thunderbolt ports so for one of the monitors you will need a Pearstone USB Type-C Male to HDMI Male 4k Cable. BH #PECHD3

    what calibration methods/devices are supported?

    what calibration methods/devices are supported?
    Asked by: Cynthia
There is an option for you to fine tune the white balance, which you can do by reading the monitors default output with a calibrator device such as the i1 Display Plus, then inputing the white point coordinates the device read into the Apples software for calibration. This will set the display to an accurate baseline to start with using reference modes. From this point and on, the above mentioned references modes can be customized: you select the gamut you will use (e.g. Rec 709), dial in your target color temperature (e.g. D65), target gamma curve (e.g. 2.4 for BT 1886), luminance (e.g. 120 candelas), and save the custom reference mode with the name you prefer. Such reference mode is working at the hardware level: it is stored into the display and will remain set in use no matter the display resets or you switch computers. Overall, the results Ive got with this workflow have been good: I would advise you to go to Display Cal, though, and run yourself QA on your calibration just to make sure you created the color reference profile you needed.
