Designed for seasoned musicians, film composers, and project studio owners, Steinberg Cubase Artist 12 is a complete music production environment that combines sophisticated audio and MIDI tools with pristine audio quality. Offering a fast, flexible, and intuitive workflow, this powerful software can be used for composing, sequencing, beat making, recording, editing, mixing, and mastering—making it ideal for producing and scoring tracks from start to finish, in all genres.
Cubase Artist 12 features several enhancements including the FX Modulator, Verve, Scale Assistant, and an improved AudioWarp. FX Modulator breathes new life into your sounds, while the Verve provides a beautifully atmospheric felt piano. The updated AudioWarp makes recordings even more perfect, while the new Scale Assistant works in VariAudio to make pitch editing a breeze. Cubase Artist 12 utilizes a 64-bit audio engine compatible with resolutions up to 192 kHz. The software offers unlimited audio, instrument, and MIDI tracks, and can accommodate up to 32 physical inputs and outputs as well as 32 group channels. Notable features include fully automatic delay compensation, flexible routing options, and the ability to integrate with Yamaha's Motif keyboard workstation. Users have access to 59 audio FX plug-ins, 18 MIDI FX plug-ins, four virtual instruments with over 2600 sounds, and VariAudio 3 for pitch and time correction.
Note:
This software version does not support 32-bit plug-ins. VST 2 plug-ins only run in Rosetta 2 mode on Apple silicon-based Mac computers. Cubase does not support VST 2 when running natively on Apple silicon Macs.

From improved MIDI Remote integration and improved editing tools to enhanced audio-to-MIDI and new effects, Cubase Artist 12 brings your creative ideas to life better and faster than ever.
- MIDI Remote Integration: Built around the new concept of MIDI Remote Scripts, Cubase automatically detects your device and maps the controls. If there is no script for your device yet, you can easily create your own with the MIDI Controller Surface Editor. You can then conveniently connect controls and parameters with the Mapping Assistant.
- VariAudio with Scale Assistant: Get creative with melodies or correct the pitch of your recordings, the Scale Assistant in VariAudio brings two powerful tools together to make pitch editing a breeze. Just set the scale and follow the Chord Track or let the Scale Assistant suggest the scale, based on your recorded notes. You can then instantly quantize the pitch of your recording or snap the VariAudio pitch editing to the scale.
- Audio to MIDI Chords: Drag your audio recording to the Chord Track and Cubase will lay out the chord progression for you. And if the detection does not match your scale, the Chord Assistant can suggest the nearest alternatives based on the following chords. The new Create Chord Events from Audio feature in Cubase blurs the borders between audio and MIDI, letting you focus on the music.
- FX Modulator: Breathe life into your sounds with the advanced, multi-effect modulation of FX Modulator. From classic ducking effects to exciting rhythmic patterns, it offers brand new ways to get creative. Create custom shaped LFOs and modulate up to six integrated effect modules at once. The LFO can also be triggered via MIDI or use one or more side-chain inputs, letting the LFO follow the incoming signals. And if you don’t want to create your own styles, you will find inspiration in many carefully designed presets.
- No Dongle Required: Cubase Artist 12 no longer requires the USB eLicenser dongle, ushering in a new era with a licensing system that doesn’t need a physical copy protection device and also lifts many restrictions of the past.
- ARA Improvements: ARA Extensions can now be applied at track level, letting you conveniently edit all events within that track.
- New SuperVision Modules: Added several amazingly useful new modules to SuperVision, including a VU meter, spectrum keyboard, phase balance, level and loudness histograms.
- Editing Workflow Improvements: Steinberg has improved the editing workflows with new functions and key commands to help. The new Nudge Grid options let you edit independently from the project grid. Additionally, Cubase has added key commands to the Range Selection tool for easier navigation. There are also new key commands to slip event content, adding fades and sizing events with fades.
- Sample Accurate Volume Automation: Volume automation is now near sample accurate and completely independent from the buffer size.
