The QDA-UMP4 M.2 2280 to 2.5" U.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD Adapter helps to potentially save on costs without compromising performance by allowing you to install a separately sold M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 solid-state drive into a 2.5" U.2 (SFF-8639) drive bay. Made from aluminum alloy with thermal pads, this enclosure is designed to efficiently dissipate heat while taking advantage of the PCIe 4.0 x4 bandwidth to deliver up to 5381.8 MB/s read and 2423.8 MB/s write speeds. No additional software drivers are required, and the adapter is backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 M.2 and U.2 devices. The QDA-UMP4 is designed to work with Windows, Linux, and select QNAP NAS systems.

Has anybody tested the claim of “5382 MB/s” and “2424 MB/s” max read/write? A passive adapter should be capable of 7500 MB/s.
The QNAP QDA-UMP4 M.2 2280 to 2.5" U.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD Adapter has been tested in QNAP's labs, where it achieved a maximum read speed of 5381.8 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 2423.8 MB/s. Performance can vary based on the environment it's used in.

Will the WD_black 8TB WITH HEAT SINK fit in this adapter? If not, should using it without a heat sink be considered?
An SSD with a heatsink is not recommended for use inside the QNAP QDA-UMP4 M.2 2280 to 2.5" U.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD Adapter.
