Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 AF Overview

Combining a classic focal length with a fast aperture, the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 AF II is a versatile, well-rounded, wide-angle lens for Sony E-mount cameras. It excels in everything from street photography to landscape and video work, thanks to its suite of cutting edge features, full-frame coverage, and customizable controls.

Its updated AF system features an internal focusing design which maintains the overall length of the lens during use, and prevents the filter ring and lens barrel from rotating during focusing. This benefits working with circular polarizers and graduated ND filters. A linear stepping motor is used for silent and precise operation. The built-in switch allows you to use the focus ring to control aperture and features full-time focus override.

Rokinon 35mm f/1.4 AF Reviews

2 Lenses didnt work

The first of this lens I ordered never worked on my a7iv. The camera didnt recognize the lens and so autofocus and the aperture never worked. BH replaced it very quickly but now the second of this lens I have used now constantly focus hunts in autofocus. Manual focus works fine, but any kind of autofocus hunts constantly never staying locked on focus. Not sure what the problem with this lens is but I'm 0/2.

A surprising quality for a good price

question

Does it have latest firmware for the lens? The latest firmware supposes fixing focus speed
Asked by: Xiao Can Y.
Manufacturers do not indicate to B&H which firmware version is in their product and we unfortunately do not have the ability to ascertain the answer. Our stock moves rather quickly so it is more likely than not it has the latest firmware in it. Also please consider that new firmware could be introduced at anytime so even if we could tell you the version the product has, it might change even during the time it takes to ship from us to you. We recommend that once you have received your product, check with the manufacturers website to see if you are running the latest version. If not, you can at that time do an update.

question

How noisy is the autofocus?
Asked by: john c.
It's quieter than many of the Canon lenses I had, but it's not silent. If you're shooting quiet video, you will notice it.

question

Did anyone else have the camera freeze on them because of the lens while using face detection/flexible spot focus/AF-C? - A7RIII
Asked by: David O.
There have been no reports of that issue. You might try making sure the lens contacts are clean and try again. Otherwise, if you have had the lens less than 30 days, please contact the B&H Cusotemr Service Department. https://bhpho.to/2bxrYlG

question

Has anyone used this lens for video? How is the auto focus. We'll be using an a7riii.
Asked by: Corey P.
I've had pretty good success with autofocus on this lens. I compared this to the Sony 55 1.8 and didn't notice a big difference.
