The 50mm f/2.5 optic has a distinct curved field of focus that allows you to place the area of sharp focus anywhere within the image frame and have the rest of the image shrouded in a smooth, ethereal blur. The aperture range helps to control the size of the sweet spot of focus and 12 diaphragm blades contribute to a smooth bokeh quality to suit the selective focus look. In addition to the traditional diaphragm, nine creative aperture disks are also included for producing unique shapes in the out-of-focus highlights in a scene, such as a sunburst, heart, star, or whirlpool effects.

still sending out the wrong blades
I read the reviews but I thought they've had months to fix this, right, so the web description is correct. Nope. So I tried contacting b&h and their response was you bought the wrong lens and then they offered to sell me the right lens, actually the same lens I just got from them, for twice the price minus 20$ discount. Again I pointed out that they sold me the wrong lens or the description is wrong and so far nothing. So now I have to file a dispute with my card company and deal with that all because they are too lazy to make sure they send what they sell and/or describe it correctly on their website.
Awesome lens
Great lens when you nail the focus. The product description is not accurate. Comes with only 9 appature rings and 5 of them are blanks. I returned the first order thinking it was a mistake but the exchange also includes more blanks. But I conracted lensbaby and they are willing to replace the blanks.
