Convenient Portability
The DataTraveler Exodia M features a moving cap design that protects the USB Type-A connector when not in use. The cap is also color coded depending on the storage capacity. In this day & age, of cloud storage & streaming content, sometimes folks forget about the advantages of having local storage. To that end, my recent need was for backing-up data related to a project, that had been archived on a local computer hard drive, for nearly a year. I my search I reviewed the usual candidates - Sandisk, PNY, & Kingston. My needs were relatively basic - under 500GB, USB 3.0 or better with backward compatibility to USB 2.0, integrated dust cover/slide, & reliability. I checked the local big box stores, and they either were over-priced, or out of stock. My go-to for computer/tech stuff online has been B&H for well over a decade.
I quick review of Flash Drives on their website, took me to their selection of Kingston FD's. Since my project files were just over 64GB, 128GB was next logical sized Flash Drive. From there, I was able to narrow the search to the "Kingston 128GB DataTraveler Exodia M USB Flash Drive (Red)". It had ample room to label the Flash Drive on the slide cover, with my Brother Label Maker, so it's clear about the contents. the price was right, so purchased a pair - one as a primary storage, with the second as a backup. So far, it's proven to be a wise choice, both in-terms of price & reliability.

I wish the writing speed was faster but I guess this is pretty much the standard. Still does the job. When you have larger files, you need to be patient, it's going to be under 20MBs writing.

Has anyone done a transfer test on these? I have heard slow to very slow, but I am interested in actual numbers.

Regarding the Kingston 128GB DataTraveler Exodia M USB 3.2 Gen 1 Flash Drive (Red, 2-Pack), as we have not done any transfer tests with this drive, we don't have specific numbers in terms of its sustained speeds.
