Motorola T270 Reviews

Works Great If You Know How To Use Them!

People Who Complain These Do Not Work Are Possibly Using The Wrong Channel And/or Do Not Understand The Limitations In Certain Environments...or Perhaps They Don't Realize That Two Cannot Talk At Once. Helps To Read The Manual! These Are Rugged Units That Work Very Well. Have Owned Several Iterations Of The Motorola Talkabout Line Of 2-way Radios, And They Are Reliable And Work As Advertised. Per Wikipedia: "FRS Radios Operate On 22 Channels In The 462-467 MHz Range, With Channels 1-7 And 15-22 Limited To 2 Watts Of Power, And Channels 8-14 Limited To 0.5 Watts. The Signal Strength Is Strongest On Channels 1-7 And 15-22, While Channels 8-14 Are Intended For Lower Power And Shorter Range, Often Associated With Different Frequencies Within The Same Band." You Only Use The Lower Power Channels When The Radios Are In Close Proximity And Want To Conserve Battery Life. You Use The Stronger Channels For Increased Range. The Units Also Have A Code Feature For Easy Pairing. If You Do Not Pair The Radios To The Same Code They Won't Communicate, And If There Are People Using Different Radios, You Need To Turn The Code Off In Order To Receive Their Transmission. GMRS Requires A License And Operates At Higher Power (5 Watts) And Is Used In This Combination For Repeater Input And Output And Allows You To Communicate With Someone Who Uses It. So Make Sure You Are Literally On The Same Wave Length As Other Members, Using The Same Code Or Disabling It As Appropriate, And Are Using The 2 Watt Channels.

Third time buying these; great value for the money

Third time buying these for work (first time when I was an employee at one place; second time when I got promoted to another place; and this time when I got promoted again to manage my current place). Excellent range; durable (have dropped mine countless times); and compatible with a readily available charging cradle (sold separately but inexpensively online). Highly recommend!
