ARRI K2.0015074 Overview

Use this SDI Isolator Cable from ARRI to avoid damage to SDI outputs on cameras when using a 3G monitor. Onboard monitors can damage the SDI outputs of cameras when broken SDI cables are being used. This cable features male BNC connectors on each end.

To avoid potential damage, ARRI strongly suggests that you connect all video and power cables to the monitor before you connect a battery or power to the camera (or monitor). In addition, they highly recommend checking the SDI cables on a regular basis and to replace damaged cables immediately.

Note:
SDI isolators can reduce signal quality and/or maximum cable length.

I was so tired of disconnecting and reconnecting SDI cables on my Komodo in the proper sequence hoping I wouldn’t forget and fry the port… This cable runs to my monitor and a second one just like it from my monitor to my viewfinder. Works like a charm! Saving time and aggravation while I shoot!

Whether a special SDI isolator is necessary at all or not is probably better answered by shooters who killed their camera by plugging in a monitor while having the battery seated. Fortunately I have been spared this fate so far. But I have read enough horror stories in online forums that I decided to take steps to keep it that way. Among all the special cables, dongles and little extra boxes available the actual efficacy is widely contested. So I really don't trust any of those devices, some of which are quite pricey. This cable however is a product by ARRI and call me a fan boy but I find it hard to believe the boys and girls in Bavaria would dare to sell a product, which out of the box is not doing exactly the job it promises to do. So there you go, this is my reasoning for giving this cable with its little dumpling in the middle five out of five stars.

No, the ARRI SDI Isolator Cable is only rated for 3G signals. Also the cable requires other ARRI parts to work. We suggest looking at the following DigitalFoto Solution Limited KO-10 SDI Protector & Galvanic Isolator for RED KOMODO (7.9", Black). DigitalFoto Solution Limited KO-10 SDI Protector & Galvanic Isolator for RED KOMODO (7.9", Black) BH #DIKO10B Also with SDI we recommend the following procedure for SDI safety. SDI should be Last in first out, connect power, then SDI --- connect your power, then connect your SDI. If you are going to remove power, remove your SDI first. This procedure is better then working with Galvanic Isolation.
