Lectrosonics Hma Overview

The HMa from Lectrosonics is a UHF plug-on transmitter that accepts mic or line-level signals via a standard XLR connector. The transmitter is designed to be paired with a Lectrosonics receiver and handheld microphone (sold separately)for use in applications for ENG (Electronic News Gathering), EFP (Electronic Field Productions), interviews for broadcast TV, and more. The HMa offer phantom power selectable at 5, 15, and 48V—allowing it to work with a wide variety of condenser mics. Of course you can switch the phantom power off entirely if you're using a dynamic microphone.

The input amplifier of the HMa transmitter uses an ultralow-noise op-amp for quiet operation and offers input gain control along with a wide-range dual-release envelope limiter. A 24-bit A to D converter digitizes the audio, and filters the supersonic noise above 21 kHz. The resulting signal is encoded with a proprietary algorithm to produce an analog data signal for RF transmission.

This version of the HMa features a tuning range of 18 MHz, with tuning steps in increments of 100 kHz or 25 kHz, and is set for use in the E07-941: 941 to 959 MHz range. DSP compatibility mode allows the transmitter to work with legacy analog wireless microphone and IFB receivers as well as some receivers from other manufacturers.

Finally, the transmitter is powered by two AA batteries, with status indicated by a multi-color LED. A USB port is also provided for firmware updates, and an IR (infrared) port is included to simplify setup with IR enabled receivers.

Note:
Covers the Part-74 license-only frequency range from 941.525 to 959.825 MHz
Digital Hybrid Wireless is a revolutionary design that combines digital audio with an analog FM radio link to provide outstanding audio quality and the exemplary RF performance of the finest analog wireless systems
Multi-color LED status indicator
Selectable 50/100 mW output power
18 MHz tuning range in 100 kHz or 25 kHz steps
The antenna is formed between the machined aluminum housing of the transmitter and the attached microphone or cable. It functions as a dipole radiator when attached to a hand-held microphone and somewhat like a ground plane antenna when connected with a cable or plugged directly into a mixer

Lectrosonics Hma Reviews

It's Lectro - What more is there to say?

This is one seriously Built like a tank little add-on transmitter. It has worked flawlessly on any of our boom poles. It does exactly what you would expect from a Lectrosonics device, and does it very well. The one complaint I have is that the menu structure isn't consistent with other Lectro devices that have the same physical button/display layout (SMD body-packs for instance). You can still figure out how it works, but it isn't as intuitive as some of the other devices. Despite this, I would still highly recommend the HMa to anyone.

Top of the Line!

This transmitter is simply the best! Easy to use, frequency searching and setting is easy, and it's made of metal! Go pro or go home!

The list of receivers compatible with the Lectrosonics HMa Plug-On Wireless Transmitter depends on the frequency range selected. For an HMa on the A1 (470-537MHz) or B1 (537-607MHz) ranges, there are many options including the Lectrosonics SRc, LR, UCR411A. If using the HMa on the 941 (941-951MHz), the options are limited to the SRc receiver.
