Elgato Flex Arm Reviews
Maybe for a cell phone?
I'm not sure if this had a weight limit, but if it does, it's veryyyy light - like maybe can hold a cell phone without slipping. I tried tightening it so that it didn't slip, and I learned that the knob is hollow and breaks pretty easily, even just with hand tightening. It's pretty useless to me.
Flexible but tricky and not super strong
The Flex arm system is very flexible but I have come to really dislike the ball socket joints. If there is even a little weight on the end (or even the weight of the Arm segments themselves), you have to really tighten the joint. Even when very tight, it sometimes creeps down from the weight. That sometimes forces you to align the joint opening horizontal rather than vertical, so that it cannot creep down. In order to switch the segments around, you have to loosen the joint to the point that it almost falls apart before you can get the joint off the ball. Just a little too much fiddling and effort in general. I generally like Elgato products. I think they need a new version of the Flex Arm that has joints that are gears that mesh, so that when you tighten the joint the gears lock and it will not creep down.
