Do I need a rack shelf to mount? I am not sure whether the rack ears are sturdy enough.
I have two of these - one I put on mounting brackets (shelf), the other I only attached via the rack ears. Both work fine - and if I had to do it again, I'd only use the rack ears. It's very sturdy even without the shelf.
