Impact Monitor Stand Reviews
Awful leg support design, strong do not buy. Promise.
I honestly thought this stand was a great deal compared to the Matthews one when I first got it but I have long since changed my mind after owning it for two years now. First problem, like several other Impact products is that the stand is just far too overweight compared to other equivalent industry standards. This thing is unnecessarily BEEFY but I could live with that con. What's much worse however is the design for the leg support brackets (colored parts) and how they're secured the legs and main shaft. Rather than use a single free spinning bolt and nut that goes all the way through both the support brackets it's instead using multiple basic 1/4-20 screws that thread directly into the legs themselves. Why is this a problem? Well the support brackets and legs turn against one another every single time the legs fold in or out and the friction of that directly loosens the screws causing them to fall out and get lost ALL THE TIME. I've replaced these screws multiple times now at a hardware store, it makes zero sense why it was designed that way compared to every other product like this. If it was secured with a single long through bolt and a nut on the end all rotation of the legs would be isolated and not cause it to unscrew itself because it'd essentially function as a free spinning rod and not a screw working it's way loose. Honestly, even if they'd just used some loctite that'd have helped massively but they didn't so there's nothing there to keep these screws in and they 100% will come out. I may upload a video or photos later when near the product. If any of that explanation is difficult to understand or visualize without pictures I'll make it super easy for you, absolutely do not buy this. The Proaim monitor stand is the best deal and fantastic quality as well.
Just buy the Matthews version
This is a knock off of the Matthews monitor stand. If I could do it over again I would buy the Matthews stand instead. The Impact stand is definitely not as sturdy and the built quality is inferior. Some of the screws have become loose and I worry Iâll end up losing them.
