  • Create a Cinematic Look
  • Softens Wrinkles and Blemishes
This 49mm Black Mist 1/4 and 1/8 Filter Kit from NiSi can be used to create a cinematic look by lowering contrast and highlights within the frame to balance the tonal range between highlights and shadows. Black mist diffusion filters are also commonly used to help soften wrinkles, blemishes and create a flattering image of a subject. Black mist suppresses highlights and lifts shadows for well-balanced contrast. Light sources maintain a strong center with a pleasing glow from the light source. Beyond portraiture, black mist filters can also be used in other applications, such as night photography, landscape, and still life, to create a cinematic atmosphere by adding extra blooming and gradients to the highlights in a scene. Any direct light source will become more film-like, with a smoother, buttery texture around the highlights.

Can these Nisi black mist filters be used with ...

Can these Nisi black mist filters be used with the V7 filter holder and CPL? Or, are they meant to be used just by themselves. I would think they would make them in the 100x100 format to use in the V7 holder...that way you could use with more lenses too.

The Black Mist circular filters are meant to be used directly attached to the lens and will not work with any of V series holders (V5/V6/V7). We do make rectangular black mist filters for cinema matte boxes but currently we do not make them for our 100x100mm system.

The NiSi 95mm Professional Black Mist 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 Filter Kit with Case will not work with the DZOFilm Pictor 12-25mm T2.8 Super35 Parfocal Zoom Lens (PL/EF, Black) as the lens accepts 86 mm screw in filters.

can i stack ND filter with it ?

The NiSi 82mm Black Mist Filter 1/8 (B&H# NIBME82), as with all circular NiSi Black Mist Filters 49-95mm in diameter, has both rear male and front female filter threads. As such, it may be added on top of existing filters, and additional filters may be added to it. Of course, adding more than one filter can sometimes result in vignetting, so you'll need to experiment to see if that works for your lens and intended usage or if you will need first to add a step-up ring and use a larger diameter filter to eliminate it.
