SKAARHOJ PTZ Fly Overview

Get fingertip control of PTZ camera movement with the PTZ Fly with Blue Pill Inside from SKAARHOJ. Featuring a full-size three-axis joystick, this compact controller makes it easy to pan, tilt, and rotate your cameras. Also featured are four backlit encoder knobs with wide-screen OLED displays and six programmable four-way multifunction keys for presets and camera selection.

It employs Blue Pill Inside technology, meaning that the hardware of a Blue Pill is available inside your controller instead of combining a stand-alone Blue Pill with a separate UniSketch. It allows you to connect to an unlimited number of controllers and customize the interfaces. PoE technology simplifies setup by enabling signals and power to travel via a single cable.

SKAARHOJ PTZ Fly Reviews

Compact Controller

This little controller can get the job done. I tested it on a couple of Sony BRC-AM7s and everything was at my fingertips including arming the auto tracking feature. ATEM tally and routing forwarding are fantastic. The only issue I had was with the amount of tension on the zoom ring and the stiffness of the stick. I had to use a lot more force to engage and hold a push/pull/pan than with the Sony Controller. I could not control the cameras at the high level that has been mastered over many years. If you have been using Sony/Panasonic premium controllers, wrist and finger fatigue can set in quickly and you will give up some control when it comes to framing up quick shots that are done manually. The Preset store/recall methodology on the PTZ FLY is quicker than with the Sony controller and I really liked the way Scaarhoj set that up. Very well made product that can do some amazing things.

It is Skaarhoj

Skaarhoj is okay, overpriced for its size. Sure, it can do PTZ fine, but it's way overpriced for this controller. I'm not impressed. I guess I'd have to spend over 5K to be impressed.
