ProMediaGear GT2 Overview

The GT2 Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head Attachment for Ball Heads from ProMediaGear attaches to Arca-type ball heads and holds a telephoto lens, providing gimbal movement for the lens. It has two built-in Arca-type dovetails at the base for attaching it to ball heads and has an Arca-type clamp with a quick release plate on top. Long telephoto lenses can be attached via a native Arca-type tripod foot or attached quick release plate.

Between the tilt adjustment of the Arca-type clamp and the movement of the ball head, the setup will provide a full tilt and swivel range of movement. There are knobs to loosen and tighten movement, and a bubble level for checking balance. The bottom and side of the base also feature 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads in addition to the built-in dovetails. These allow the GT2 to be mounted on tripods, monopods, and other supports. The GT2 is made of T6061 aluminum with a black finish, and it has stainless steel sealed bearings.

ProMediaGear GT2 Reviews

New Monopod Head

I Purchased This GT2 After Seeing A Good Review. I Had The Wimberley MH-100 But Did Not Really Like The Off Axis Weight Of My Pro Body And Large Telephoto Lens. This Is Better As The Rig Is Not As Far Off Axis. It Is Still Not Centered But Better. The GT2 Is Very Well Made, Smooth Operation And Good Tension (and Expensive). The Mount Clamp Knob Could Be A Tad Bit Larger. I Have Practiced A Little With It And The Real Test Will Be Next Month.

Compact and Lightweight Gimbal option

I purchased this as a second travel gimbal option. It must be used in conjunction with a standard ball head so it functions as a sidekick. Make sure your ball head can handle the necessary weight. In general I prefer a standard gimbal where the camera mounts on the bottom rather than the side as it is easier to attach the camera to the gimbal. But this unit is sturdy and well made (easily holds my R5 with an EF500 prime and 1.4 TC) and since the ball head and the tomahawk are 2 pieces it packs very easily in your luggage. I will use this when traveling and my standard gimbal when space is not a factor. Four stars only because I find it a challenge to attach the camera in the sidekick position... but that would be the case for any sidekick solution. This gimbal head is extremely well made!

if I am getting a Benro tripod with Acratech GXP-S

if I am getting a Benro tripod with Acratech GXP-SS Ball Head with Arca-Type Compatible Lever Clamp is this compatible? or is it redundant....
Asked by: Kenda
The ProMediaGear GT2 Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head Attachment for Ball Heads (Black) is compatible with the Acratech GXP-SS Ball Head with Arca-Type Compatible Lever Clamp. If you want to have a gimbal head, you would use this adapter (or one like it). If you want a ball head, you do not need this accessory.

Yes, the ProMediaGear GT2 Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head Attachment for Ball Heads (Black) would be a very good option for a Canon RF 100-500mm lens.
