Tenba Axis 32L V2 Reviews

Near perfect camera bag

I purchased the Tenba Axis 32L, in addition to the 20L, to be able to have top access to a camera that has a lens and grip installed on it. I can say that this bag will allow that to happen. Also, from the side access port, a fullsize camera with a grip and lens installed can be accessed. I will say the build of the bag is excellent. The attention to small details is excellent as well. It’s very stiff and rigid and will stand upright. I like the top flap that covers the top access. I feel that my camera is well protected in this space. I actually have very little interest in the side access panel of the bag. I wish Tenba would make a version of this bag with top access only. I do think this spot compromises the safety of the equipment in the bag because of the zippers and lack of padding there. There is no padding in about the top 2 inches of that side access panel. Personally, I would not want to have a camera body leaning up against that area while traveling, without adding some additional padding (which is easily done,) as it is the most vulnerable part of the bag. But I realize this is the tradeoff for having this access. I think the only construction criticism I have of the bag is the “ventilating 3D airmesh” that covers the armstraps and the back of the bag on the surface of the bag that will be up against your body while carrying it. I have seen one reviewer liken it to “100 grit sandpaper” which is a pretty good description. It is very abrasive to the touch, less soft and less padded than any Lowepro or NorthFace backpack that I have ever had. Hopefully it will soften a little with use. It’s really the one detail that prevents this from being an almost perfect camera backpack, for me.

Great design with an ok practical design .

It looks great and has a lot of space, I can easily fit my 2 bodys, 4 lenses, audio recorder, drone, monitor, gimbal, tripod and computer on full capacity. I found 2 problems, even though yo can easily acces the 2 bodys from top or side, the lenses its a pain, yo need to put the bag on the floor, put the front face down onto the dirt and acces from behind, so if youre shooting outdoors im not sure how much time the front side would last, also If you have your computer there, you are putting the complete weight of the equipment into the computer screen, I would be much easier if they change the side to the front to be opened. Also the front baggie, its kind of hard to acces to all of your sds, or batteries on the bottom.

is this a soft, semi-flexible backpack or is it more on the rigid end of camera backpacks?
Asked by: Stan L
The Axis collection is definitely intended to provide pro-grade, workhorse-level protection. As such, the bags are stiff and padded. If you want a softer and more flexible bag, the Tenba Fulton collection and the Tenba DNA backpack are excellent options.

Is it possible to fit a cinema camera in the Axis V2 32L, Sony FX3 rig, slightly broken down? The rig height overall is 8", - monitor
Asked by: Christopher
The Axis 32L was not designed to fit something as tall as 8". While Axis packs are used for cine gear all the time, they were designed more for DSLRs, which top out at 6.5" tall, so there would be little reason to make the pack deeper than that. The front laptop sleeve and front storage pocket make up the rest of the 9" depth that the airlines allow, which leaves 6.5" for the camera compartment. But the Tenba CIneluxe Backpack 21 is 8.5" deep and was designed specifically to carry a built rig, even onto an airplane. So that would be much more suitable for the FX3 rig.

The 32L is too large to fit under a seat, but the 24L will usually fit.
