Vloggers and content creators can elevate their camera's audio with the Sony ECM-G1, an ultracompact, camera-mount shotgun microphone optimized for capturing clear and intelligible speech for video. Whether you're shooting interviews, outdoor street scenes, or just quick updates for social media, the ECM-G1's highly directional supercardioid pickup pattern focuses audio capture narrowly on the subject directly in front of the camera, helping to reject unwanted background sound from the sides and rear. The large 14.6mm mic capsule delivers a full-range sound, rivaling that of a dedicated professional audio recorder like the Sony PCM-D100.

I have a ZV-1 camera and wish to use timecode on one audio channel and this microphone on the other. Which cable you advise?
Asked by: CARL
The only way that could work to record with the Sony ECM-G1 Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone and timecode on the Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera would be to use a separate active two-channel camera mixer and connect the mic on one channel to a 3.5mm TRS input where it can receive plug-in power and connect the timecode generator to the second channel, then set the mixer's output for stereo signal so that one channel is the audio for the mic and the timecode is on the second channel is timecode. In mono mode, you would be recording the mic and timecode mixed together on both channels. For a two-channel camera mixer that could work, you can use the Comica Audio CVM-AX3 Dual-Channel Audio Mixer for DSLRs (B&H # COCVMAX3), which will connect to the camera's 3.5mm mic input. Please be aware that the camera's MI shoe and 3.5mm mic input cannot both be used simultaneously for connecting microphones.

If using with a SONY camera through the MI hot show, can you also plug in a lav mic receiver to get shotgun & lav together?
Asked by: Alexander
Hi Alexander, Thank you for your question. Sony's commitment to customer satisfaction is our top priority. When you have an external microphone attached to the mic terminal of the camera, the audio is recorded from the external microphone. The camera will not pick up the audio from the MI Shoe. It will not record from both. Thank you again. -Linda (Sony Social Support)
